  • You may stand, walk or lie down. Either lie down on your back with a pillow underneath your knees or lie down on your side with a pillow between your knees. Do not lie down on your stomach.
  • Apply ice to the area for 48 hours, for a 20 minute period, on and off.
  • Do the stretches the Dr. has given you.
  • Do not bend at the waist, lift anything or do any twisting movements, even while dressing.
  • As you improve, you may stand and walk for short periods of time. Do not walk up and down stairs or on rough ground.
  • When getting out of bed, turn to the pain free side (your good side), push yourself up to the sitting position, put your feet on the floor, hands on your thighs and stand slowly. When lying down, sitting or standing up tighten your stomach muscles and buttock muscles until you are in the position you want to attain.
